The MTCBC is a voluntary council of longstanding construction craft unions comprised of the following Constituent Unions:
United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing & Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada, Local 170
International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths Forgers and Helpers, Lodge 359;
International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union No. 97;
Millwrights Local 2736;
International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craft Workers, Local #2
The purpose of the Council shall be to:
- Act as the exclusive bargaining agent on behalf of the Employees;
- Represent the Employees in effective collective bargaining, pursuant to the terms of this Constitution, through a single collective bargaining agenda addressing issues of common concern to the Constituent Unions;
- Negotiate and administer the Collective Agreements;
- Promote co-operation among the Constituent Unions;
- Resolve jurisdictional disputes that may arise between the Constituent Unions to secure and maintain industrial peace and promote conditions favourable to the settlement of disputes;
- Settle such other disputes, deal with such other matters and take such action as may be required under this Constitution; and
- To encourage cooperative participation between the Employers and the Council in resolving workplace issues, adapting to changes in the economy, developing workplace skills and promoting workplace productivity.
